One vehicle was hit, and its driver injured, prompting officers to apply a tourniquet. After hours of failed negotiations, SWAT teams deployed tear gas, leading the barricaded shooter, Devon Matthew Wayland, to emerge. A sniper then shot through the window, disorienting him before he was apprehended. Investigators discovered Wayland had called 911 himself, staging the incident to provoke police into shooting him. While initially suspected of extremist ties, it was determined Wayland acted alone, driven by anger and humiliation from a prior confrontation.
